When I flew Business Class with Malindo Air from Kuching to Kuala, I had a chance to enjoy what the Kuching Airport Premium Lounge had offered. A hundred times I had walked passing the lounge but this lounge never attract me to try. Might be I do not really need it as the departure hall here have a Coffee Bean, MarryBrown and a food court which you can get more variety of foods.
Upon checked-in, I had given a voucher of the lounge which mentioned I am invited to relax and unwind with their premium airport services. I wonder how is the services.
First of all, I was greeted without a smile at the reception counter but it was smooth registration. The lounge is not that spacious. Few areas including the dining table if you decided to have a quick bites.
They having a open kitchen concept with one chef in charge the kitchen area. A few of Sarawak signature dishes available including Mee Kolok, Laksa Sarawak and Nasi Aruk. To get your food, you need to order with the Chef and he will make your order. Once ready, the chef with call out your food names. Talking about the variety of foods, believe me it is quite limited, only a few available and you can count with your fingers.
It just a small portion of Mee Kolok. It is remind me with the Boat Noodles where you need to order more plate if you want more. For the taste wise, it was okay for me but nothing to brag about. Star rating: 6/10
Next, I want to try the Laksa Sarawak. the portion bigger than Mee Kolok. To be honest, the laksa was bad. The broth was very thin. I am really looking forward to the thick taste of broth, but I was disappointing. Hopefully next time, at least they can served more tasty laksa as it is a Sarawakian pride. Star rating 3/10.
For the expresso station, you also need to order, but it takes sometimes as they had a very limited of crew here. But they served the drink to my table.
Before, I was impressed with how competent crew at the SATS Premium Lounge at Changi Airport. But here, I was not really impressed. The empty plate on my next table never been cleared up for 15-20minutes.
Anyway, I do not mind to go here again for my next business class flight.
