Weil Hotel Ipoh, Review | Travel with My Mom

My mom and I will traveling to Vietnam for two weeks, but before that, we decided to visit Ipoh for two days. Unfortunately, on the way to Ipoh, our  rentalcar's side mirror had been damaged by the passing motorcycle while we are stopping at the traffic light.

As we are looking around for the workshop to repair the side mirror, we realized that it is already late and we need to continue our journey to Ipoh and will search the workshop in Ipoh. Sadly, the cover for the side mirror will be available after few days. After a few calling workshop in Kuala Lumpur, there is one workshop that having a spare unit and from that moment we know that we need to go back to Kuala Lumpur immediately as most of the workshop will closed on Sunday. So, our staycation in Ipoh had been cut short from 2 nights to 1 night only. Definitely we will be back.

BEST LOCATION
In Ipoh we are staying at WEIL Hotel. It is located in the heart of Ipoh and just next to the Ipoh Parade Shopping Mall, which I can say the best shopping mall in Ipoh. So, it is really convenience to stay here and  here is the best location you can stay in Ipoh. No problem for the parking as the parking space is spacious and located at the Ipoh Parade Shopping Mall.

CHECK-IN

There is a long queue to check-in even I checked-in around 5pm. There are three receptionist entertained their guest. The receptionist who checked-in is not that friendly, even though a little smile I can't see from here. Usually in 4 stars hotel and hotels, there will giving us at least two keycards as per our convenience. Unfortunately the receptionist did not entertain me for the second keycard. Luckily I asked for the other staff for the second key. Here required deposit, for two nights, they asking for RM500, so I just used my credit card for verification. The bellboy helping us with our bags.

For the lobby, it is really modern, and simple. The waiting sofa is not that much, only at one section at the left entrance. And on the right is their TIFFIN restaurant, where you can have the breakfast buffet.

ROOM

Our room is Deluxe Room with a twin bed on the 7th floor. Room 711 to be exact. Size of the room is medium and just nice for two persons. With wood laminated floor which makes the room looks very cozy and classy. Both single beds are really comfortable. The room attached with a big screen TV, for me it is a bonus where you can having the best experience watching your favorite series and movies. There is a mobile phone which called "handy" for the guest to use for free. You can use for the city guides and even making a call. But you need to share it as it is only one unit per unit room. It is really convenience for the foreigner but not really for the local as we have our own mobile with local lines. But, it is a great device for the room.

BATHROOM

The bathroom come with a cute bath tub. I did not have a chance to use it as I know it did not really fit me and I am to busy spending time with the bubbles bath. The toiletries is a Milano products called CULTI and the are using big bottles of toiletries where they can refilled it, so it is a bad news for the toiletries collector. What we did not prefer is their bathroom blind. I think the direction of the blind is wrong, where people from the bedroom can easily see what is going on in the shower especially when the bedroom light is off and you are taking a shower at night. No problem if you are couples but like me, I am traveling with my mom and I think this is one of the turn-off things staying in this room.

DINNER THE DECK - GASTROBAR

My mom and I having a dinner at The Deck - Gastrobar that night. As it is a resturant and a bar, they did served alchohol and some of the foods are mixed with wine. But you can choose the menu without any food mixed with wine or just asked them not to cook with wine especially the steak. The captain of the restaurant is really nice and very helpful.

We decided to order Coz Salad (RM26), Beef Burger (RM32), Rib Eye Steak (Rm118), Crab Carbonara (RM30), Fried Ice Cream (RM18) and Chocolate Lava (RM15). Total price for our dinner including our drinks and service tax is RM285.15. All the foods are amazing and beautifully presented. I don't know which is my favourite because everything are taste so good but if you insist, I can say do not missed out the Lava Chocolate. The environment of the resturant is nice, a little bit dark and a bit privacy. It felt really romantic and suitable to bring your love one here.

INFINITY POOL

I am so ashamed to say as I did not have a chance to visit their infinity pool. This is the one what I am looking forward for this staycation. Like I said before, what happened to our car made everything seem spoiled. Next time, Insyaallah I will be back to enjoy the pool.

BREAKFAST at TIFFIN
TIFFIN is a Halal-certified restaurant which located at the same floor with the hotel lobby. Like a normal luxury hotel, their buffet breakfast spread is really variety and very tasty. What is special here is their CROISSANT, do not missed out their fresh croissant which they baked on the spot. The smell of the baked croissant make your morning appetite so high till you eat to much. Another things that I love is the mentioned the calories for each dish at the dish labelled which is for me really thoughtful whoever want to stay healthy.

CONCLUSION

After the breakfast, we decided to checked-out as I need going to Putrajaya to repair the car as soon as possible as the next day is Sunday, all the workshop is closed. Luckily everything went smooth as planned.

If you asked me whether staying at WEIL Hotel is worth it, YES, it is really worth it, with their service and their location. For me, I love hotels combined with shopping mall. What I do not like is the bathroom blind. Hopefully, they will improve it, but if you are traveling with your couples, then there will no problem.
