#HotelReview - Teahouse Urban Asian Hotel at Phnom Penh, Cambodia

On my last day trip of Cambodia, I decided to fly from Phnom Penh to Kuala Lumpur. So, thats mean, I need to get to Phnom Penh from Kampot and this was my 3rd time in Phnom Penh. Staying for only 1 night at Teahouse. TeaHouse is one of Phnom Penh’s most creatively designed hotels, mixing contemporary features with Chinese-inspired fabrics. And true to its name, it has an actual tea lounge serving more than 30 varieties. Excellent value on one of the city’s more peaceful streets. Here is my score card for my stay:

Reception / Checked In

I love the reception area and the bell staffs. Checked in was smooth. I had been offered with welcome juice drink and a cold towel. Unfortunately, the receptionist did not explain to me what they have around the hotel or what's Phnom Penh had to offer, even though I done visiting most of the place here. I was a little bit disappointing that nobody was highlighted to me that the hotel is having the tea serving ceremony. I knew about the ceremony when I read the poster around.

My Room

Superior double rooms are compact and despite no nice view, feel as bright as higher-category ones. All have comfortable king-size beds, excellent hot-water showers, air-conditioning, ceiling fan, TV, free tea and coffee, and colourful Chinese-design cushions and fabrics. However, they’re not as well-themed as the public areas and some rooms lack conveniently-placed plug sockets.

I love how they welcome me with the tropical fruits, such as rambutans, bananas and longans. They theme colour of the room is bright read, a very hot colour. I preferred the room with cold colour as its more relaxing.

More surprise, they were using real lotus flower for the decoration. 6 bottles of mineral water provided which were great as usually normal hotel will provide 2 bottles of mineral water per day.

Bathroom

Bathroom is simple and very clean. Real lotus flowers also been decorated inside here. The one with the brown fabric is a hair dryer. Unfortunately, the toiletries provided by this hotel is quiet limited. I love the pressure of rain shower.

Breakfast

The breakfast was excellent for the 3 stars hotel. The foods were variety. And they managed to label all the foods, which is great for me as I do not consume any meat. They also offered some vegetarian dishes. A lot of tropical fruits also offered which they keep in the fridge.

As the hotel known as the teahouse, a lot of tea type also offered during the breakfast.

Swimming Pool

For me, I love this kind of pool as it's feel more tropical and boutique hotel. The pool is not big size and acceptable. I did not have a chance to dip into the pool as I had very limited time.

Service & facilities

Fixed-fee agreements with tuktuk drivers also eliminate the stress of haggling for fares. The pool is peaceful and shaded, the loungers and cabanas perfect spots for cocktails or cold beers. The spa is reasonably priced (one-hour massage $15) and they do poolside foot massages. You can find clothes and crafts in the Cambomania shop, and the Tea Lounge and Tea Garden are relaxing spaces to read or enjoy a Khmer-style High Tea. They can also arrange pick-ups/drop-offs in a vintage Jaguar.

Green Garden

I think the most special for this hotel is there garden at the lobby area. It is really cool environment as it the greenery can relax your mind. Enjoying my tea in the middle of the garden is excellent. Where can you can the lush green garden in the middle of the busy city? Love the chair, small table and the cushion concept. If I stayed for extra more days, I definitely spending my time reading books or doing some works at this table in the middle of the garden.

Pros

- Cool concept of hotel
- Love the green environment vibes
- You can watch and learn more about tea during the tea ceremony every evening.
- Great breakfast
- Having an elevator
- Love the welcome tropical fruits inside the room
- Fast Wifi

Cons

-The AC seems not working very well or can't fight with the Phnom Penh heat.
-The location, you need to walk a little bit to Central Market or using tuktuk.
-No proper explanation of facilities and what the hotel offered during checked-in process
-Basic toiletries provided were less
