I immediately booked through AirBNB. If you are new to AirBNB, you are eligible for RM120 discount if you using this link. Now, you also can book Pinggir Siak in Booking.com and Agoda.com. Last time, I got the whole house for RM648.40 per night.
After I making the reservation, I immediately message the owner. The owner replied my message promptly. Really good communication and customer service. He explained one by one about what to expect when we are staying here.
You need to bank in RM80 for them as deposit. It is cleaning and damage fee in case you did not cleaned the house properly or damage anything in the house example the kayak.
Pinggir Siak is location at Kampung Segong in Bau, Sarawak., which requires drive around 50 minutes from Kuching city. Using a waze is very challenging. Recommended to use Google Maps. My sister was getting lost because of the GPS, plus here the mobile line a little bit problem.
We arrived and parked the car in from of the white house which directed by the owner. We need to pay RM10 per car as a parking fee to the house owner. Then Arif (Pinggir Siak owner), will meet you at the parking area.
You need to walked around 700m to go the Pinggir Siak from the parking area which required you to cross the stream by bamboo bridge. So, please pack your bag properly and do not bring too much things. If you need help, there is a porter service for RM20 each 15kg bags. Also, just keep in mind, seniors not really suitable to stay here because of the hike. Last time my sister fell down as her shoes was slippery and that time was raining.
When arriving Pinggir Siak, my first impression is WOW. Amazing house. Actually it got two houses here. One main house and another one small cabin. Small cabin also for big family if the house is not enough for sleeping.
The house just next to the river. It is like you have your own private area with river. So, it is ideal for the family who like to be privacy. This house is really suitable for this pandemic time.
Double story wooden house. With 2 bedrooms on the ground floor and a big room on the second flow. The kitchen area big. Surprisingly some foods are provided by the owner such as rice, instant noodles, salt, sugar, and etc. There is BBQ area outside, and spacious hangout place around the house.
I still remember the advice given by Arif, at night, do not go outside. Just remained in the house as around the house is jungle and we are here with some children. He said at night, of course the animals comes out to find their food.
Kayak also provided here. You are free to use it. As you can see, all the big floats are mine. I brought it with me. If you are looking for this kind of floats, you can check out @kchfloat in Instagram where you can rent it for 3days while you are having vacation around Kuching.
I was informed there is no "kepala air" here in the river. So I am not really worried as during our stay, it was rainy season. It was raining in the morning and evening. If you are adventurous, you can bring your own camp but if bringing camp as extra people will come, so it is prohibited. The main house only 6 adults are allowed, extra person need to pay RM35 per pax.
Anyway, we had a good time staying in Pinggir Siak. We will definitely back to stay here again!
