During my last Myanmar Adventure on 2015, I flew to Yangon using Myanmar Airways International (MAI). I bought the flight ticket through Expedia as there was a promotion for this airlines. I did not think twice when I decided to buy the ticket, I did not read the review online or make any research. All I know, I want that ticket.
As you know, MAI is a premium airlines and full flight services, of course you will get complimentary of 25kg checked-in luggage and in-flight meal.
One month before my flight, I had sent the email to their customer service that I am requesting for the Muslim Meal (Halal) for both of my flight. Surprisingly, the replied and confirmation was quite efficient.
Unfortunately, few days before my flight, I was informed about the changes of the flight time. This made all my special request back to zero. Because of this, I did not get my special meal for the flight Kuala Lumpur - Yangon and I need to request again for the special meal for my return flight.
As for the checked-in in KLIA which managed by the Malaysia Airport crew, I got the problem with my name. I need to wait quite long time for them to fix the problem. This is not good to start my journey. Fortunately, they can fixed the problem immediately after their supervisor coming to the checked-in counter.
I love the bright color of their cabin crew uniforms. I can see they had a few color of uniforms which are interesting and make the cabin more fresh look. But I do not like their attitude. They are not polite like other SEA airlines. One time, I got scolded as I took a photo inside the flight. They can asked me politely if they want to. They need to be train more. I was really shocked when one of them suddenly scolded me.
Before we took off, they distributed the fresh towel to everybody. Its good as I do not see this type of service much at the Southeast Asia premium flight including my country airlines, Malaysia Airlines.
No in-flight entertainment on board as you can see at the photos. The seat space was okay for me as for the Asian size. I can observed all inside the flight are Burmese. I think I am the only one Malaysian. But I do look like Burmese. That is why the cabin crew always speak Burmese with me.
Immediate after took off, the meal been served. It is not include the appetizer, only main dish and dessert. Like I mentioned before, I did not get my special meal as I requested as they changed my flight. When the flight changed, all my request been reset. I need to make a new request. But, it was alright as the food was prepared in KLIA, and I know it is Halal. But when I in Myanmar, I emailed again the MIA customer service to request Halal for my return flight.
They also giving the blanket to everybody who needed including me. As no entertainment on board, I just entertained myself with reading the in flight magazine called Mingalabar which mean Hello in Burmese. Make sure you fill up the arrival card and custom declaration form before arrived. I applied my visa online, so I have the electronic visa. Make sure all the documents are ready.
