I got invited as the invited media to cover the Rainforest World Music Festival 2017. This is my second time to cover this amazing festival. For RWMF2016, I was representative of local media for Sarawak Bloggers Society then no accommodation been provided. During this year of festival, all the invited peninsular/oversea medias staying at Damai Beach Resort. It is so good to back home for a few days as I flew from Kuala Lumpur. I stayed here for 4 constitutive nights as the RWMF2017 happened for 3 nights.
There are few types of room and blocks for the Damai Beach Resort. Usually, if I have a staycation with my family, usually we will staying at the chalet. But for this event, I got Deluxe Room located on a hill area. There is shuttle van for you from the lobby to the hill block every minutes, as during the festival, there is too busy guest go in and out to the room.
As it's surround by the the forest, it was okay for me to stay alone as for the festival, all rooms are fully occupied. I was caught by surprised as I my room is really spacious and with two queen beds. I tried to ask my mom to stay with me, unfortunately, she does not really interested as she know I might be busy for the whole night.
Unique welcoming gift awaiting for me on the table, which are fruits and Sarawak special cakes including the Tabaloi, a Melanau famous traditional biscuits. I love the touch of Sarawak tribes inside the room.
The roof is made from woods, look really like resort environment, but it looks a little bit run down. The cleanliness of the carpet can be more improved as it's look dull and old. I do not prefer the used the brown type of the blanket, because it is looking alike the hostel down of blanket. Hope they can upgrade and renewed next time so the room looks more refreshing.
I got my own balcony. That is the bonus when you staying at the hill block. The view is amazing every time you open the balcony door. The beach, the mountains, and all the tress are such painting alike and very peaceful.
The bathroom is spacious and the bathtub is provided. All the amenities are complete. Everyday, my room cleaned and made-up by the resort staffs. As, I brought so many gadgets, I had no issue the gadgets left on my table on the everyday during they clean my room.
How about the breakfast? Unfortunetaly, I never had my breakfast at this resort even it been provided as every night, I tend to sleep very late and it was very tiring night during the festival. So I decided to wake up very late just to energize my energy for the next night.
When I back in Kuala Lumpur, I just realized I left out my wifi router in my room. I called the receptionist to check with the crews who cleaned my room, unfortunately, they informed they did not find anything or no found items. I was really disappointing as it was a new wifi router as I just used it when I arrived in Kuching just for the festival. But I do not mind and do want to think about it anymore.
