Tourism Malaysia has launced the #AboutKL programme to harness the social media platform as a means to promote Kuala Lumpur as a tourist destination.
Opening gimmick of #AboutKL and 10th years anniversary of Hop On Hop Off
The programme sees a total of 17 bloggers, social media influencers and members of the media taking part in the 3-day 2-night programme filled with activities focused on the theme of heritage/culture, food and arts, giving them a better understanding of Kuala Lumpur and all that it offers as a tourist destination.

Elang Wah Group, which operates the KL Hop on Hop off bus tours, partnered with Tourism Malaysia for this event in conjunction with their 10th year anniversary.

The participants of #AboutKL was kept busy with heritage tours of Brickfield's Little India and Petaling Street's China Town where they got to sample some street food while learning about the history of Kuala Lumpur.

A tour of Muzium Negara's current exhibition on Wayang Kulit (Shadow Puppets) was also on the programme which shed light on this ancient tradition of storytelling as well as the symbolisms in its stories and characters.

The highlight of the programme was the Gala Night at the 113-year old theatre, Panggung Bandaraya, on 29 December. Participants had been entertained by a performance of MUD KL which tells the story of Kuala Lumpur's founding. This followed by a fashion show by leading designers Bon Zainal and Jo Disaya who will display their artistic talents on the runway.

The resulting articles, blogs, videos and photographs written/made by the participants of the programme will then be shared on the AboutKL website (aboutkl.my). It serves as a single reference point for the public and tourists to learn more about Kuala Lumpur from the personal experiences of these new media writers and bloggers.
A Night Wear Fashion meets Arts
The #AboutKL programme will be organised regularly as a means to update the social media community on the latest attractions and news on Kuala Lumpur.

it sure was a magnificent trip even if for most of us it was in the city we are so familiar with , yet there are still so many gems to be uncovered which we have just discovered....and it was nice getting to spend some time and know you better too....

DeleteThis just convinced me to visit Kuala Lumpur. I have only been to Malaysia once when we visited Malacca and loved it. This just made me excited to visit KL. Will make sure to book flights within the year.
