When I was in KK City, my friends told me to try "Fish Soup" with Noodles at Wan Wan Coffee Shop. I have no idea where is it. As always, I tried to look in Foursquare about this restaurant.
Kedai Kopi Wan Wan located at the Bundusan Square |
Wan Wan Coffee Shop or known as Kedai Kopi Wan Wan, situated at Bundusan Square, Penampang. I rode a motorcycle about 20 minutes to arrive at this shop with the WAZE guide from the KK City. You will need transportation to go to here.
Inside the restaurant |
The noodle is called "KONLO MEE" and I easily get confused my Sarawak dish, "Mee KOLOK". When I arrived at this cafe around 10am, I easily got an empty table. I though, I just got lucky because usually they said it was always full and you need to wait somebody to finish their meal to get the seat.
Do not look surprise because this cafe is look like a Chinese Cafe. Yes it is, but it is surely HALAL. Many of costumers Muslim having their meal.
Fish Soup |
I been asked by the waitress. There was no menu. I really do not have any idea to order. I try to ask what is the most popular dishes. She told me about the fish soup and the Konlo Mee.
Actually, you can choose whether you want the fish soup or the fish tom yam. But I just chose Fish Soup plus the Konlo Mee.
Konlo Mee |
Konlo Mee: Actually the noodle for me is tasteless, I do not know why. Because I am from Sarawak and I used to eat Mee Kolok. I really hope the taste is the same, unfortunately not. Maybe that made me a little bit dissapointed.
Fish Soup: For the soup, there was nothing extravaganza with the taste. It just a plain fish soup. Like seriously nothing I need to brag about. I did not finish the soup and noodle.
I am sorry, but the meal is so-so. I am not sure what is so special about the meal and the restaurant. Might be most of costumer is regular and they had been tasted this meal since they were a kid.

Hahaha. I love your honest review. Actually for me as a Sabahan and Sarawakian, I prefer Sarawak Kolok Mee. I would not recommend any of my friends to visit Wan Wan cause I found it taste normal too. But so far, I think Wan Wan is the only coffee shop that serve Halal fish soup noodle. The best one I had, unfortunately is non-hahal.
