On my first night in Sihanoukville, Cambodia, I decided to have my dinner at the newly renovated Sunset Restaurant of Dara Independence Resort & Spa. As I travel solo, it sound so sad that I had my dinner alone. But I had an amazing time at the restaurant as the staffs treatment made me so comfortable .
Once inside, one really starts to uncover just why this uncanny affinity exists, with one of the most appreciative features being the fact that the cuisine is broader Asian, instead of just narrowly focused on Western cuisine. The architect restaurant opens up like a fan to the Sihanoukville Bay. Indoor and outdoor seatings, terraces and decks. VIP room. Around the clock gourmet snacks, lunch and dinner a la carte or set menus.
The restaurant venue is set fantastically on the Independence Beach seafront, offering great dining on the semi covered setting, to allow for that notoriously appreciated ocean breeze to make itself part of proceedings. Elegant yet relaxed setting invites to leisurely feast on a cuisine designed to comfort and inspire while taking in the view.
Like all other dining locations on this part of the beach, the very best time to have your food is during sundown, so as to catch the splendid, healing powers of the golden brown sunset, which sometimes takes a turn in color and illuminates the entire beach front area with a deep red color.
The Asian cuisine is more focused on the seafood side of things and they really offer a great selection of this type of food, presented through a very extensive menu that reeks of a lot of quality.
This is the stuff dreams are made of and it would make for one of the best locations to have a romantic sunset dinner with the significant other.
The Food
As I am not eating any meat/chicken, I am looking for the seafood & vegetarians only. As for the menu, they have a lot of dishes to offers, reading it make me hungry.
I didn't choose the menu, instead I asked them to surprise me as per my diet preferences. So here are the dishes they served me:
Appetizer (8/10)
I am quite happy with the appetizer and its so refreshing dish. They are scallops, salmons, corns, avocados and a few ingredients that I can't recall. I love the avacado surprises and the dish looks pretty.
Soup (7.5/10)
The soup surprised me too. I think it's a pumpkin soup and in the middle is a lobster piece. I love the thickness taste of the soup and the lobster is an element of surprise. The natural brininess of the lobster helps bring out all the deep, earthy flavor in the soup.
Main Course (6.5/10)
It just a simple main dish, actually I am looking forward more. It's a Penne Bolognese. I always love pasta, but Penne was never my favourite as the taste is more blend rather than Spaghetti. Thank you Parmesan Cheese helping me to make this dish more tasty.
Dessert (7.5/10)
Again, I am waiting for more fancy dessert. No, they surprise desset is tropical fruits. Yay! What I love is, in the middle of the jackfruit, there is a sticky rice with some homemade sweet sauce. It yummy. I do not mind to eat fruits. But inside my heart, I really want some fancy cheese cake or mousse.
Conclusion
It just a simple main dish, actually I am looking forward more. It's a Penne Bolognese. I always love pasta, but Penne was never my favourite as the taste is more blend rather than Spaghetti. Thank you Parmesan Cheese helping me to make this dish more tasty.

Sunset restaurant is a great restaurant, as the location, the vibes, the staffs, and the menu itself. It just a different experiences here and one of the romantic gateway in Sihanoukville, Cambodia.
