Ubud Town, Bali

I had stayed in Ubud for 2 nights on a weekend. Ubud is very nice and peaceful place. You can avoid a hectic of Kuta & Legian busy town in Ubud. Ubud is very green and the temperature here is quite cool and refreshing.

I did not make any reservation of room in Ubud. When I arrived here, I just walked-in into one of the hotel along the street which look comfortable and cheap price. In here, I did not stayed in hostel because I decided to get some pampered treatment at the nice hotel with its own swimming pool. My hotel is just next to the Sacred Monkey Forest.

Staying near Sacred Monkey Forest was a mistake. This was because the main venue in Ubud is near the Ubud Palace. It is like Monkey Forest at the end South and the Ubud Palace at the end North. But then you can still walk along the street. During the night, walking is possible, but if you add on the architecture of Balinese, it is quite scary. Same like Kuta & Legian, the road here is one-way.

Along the streets of Ubud, many restaurant you can choose. Most of it is Balinese style with serving local menu. But some of the restaurant offered Western menu. I hang out at one of the bar which served reggae music. They served good fish and chips. For the one loves souvenirs, Ubud is a right place to buy some. Near the Sacred Monkey Forest, there are souvenirs shops. Make sure you bargain the price. A lot of souvenirs shop lot near the Ubud Palace area. Make sure you visit the souvenirs market there.
