I will start my travel journey in a few days, as I lived in Kuching, Kuala Lumpur is always my transit to start my journey. For 3 days and 2 nights, I had stayed at Hilton Garden Inn with my mother which is located at the Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, or to be exactly at Chow Kit area. I can't remember when my last time I stayed around Chow Kit.

Hilton Garden Inn Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman is one of the new hotel in town and it is Hilton’s award-winning global brand, made its first entry into Malaysia. The new hotel adds 265 rooms to the Hilton Garden Inn brand’s worldwide offering.

I had stayed at the 6th floor, room 615 to be exactly. As I been told, from this room, I can view the famous Petronas Twin Tower. So, it is a bonus.

In the afternoon, the hotel lobby was busy for checking-in and check-out process. The lobby is not that spacious and the sitting area is quiet limited. So basically while waiting for my turn to check-in, my mom need to stand up around the lobby as the chair was fully occupied.

I can consider my mom is old, age around 63 years old, but she will be my travel buddy for a month to Indonesia & China. Unfortunately, cliche with older people, she had a knee pain. At Hilton Garden Inn, from the lobby area to the lift lobby, there will be 8 steps of ladder to go through. So it is not really convenient for my mother. But if you are using chair, there will be an wheel chair elevator to assist you.

For the room, I still can smell the brand new hotel. It is not that spacious but it is really worth the price. The main highlight here is their comfortable bed and pillow. It is the Hilton Standard. The room is very cozy and simple.

As it mentioned earlier, I can view the KLCC from my window. I love the position of the table which facing the window. I can do my work with overlooking the KL view. Wifi provided is really good.

As you can see from the photo, everything is there, and the space is quiet limited. I love the working table, it is really spacious for me. It is one of my important criteria to choose a hotel room. In the room, they using the open style wardrobe. Six cloths hangers are available. Iron, iron board, and safety deposit box also been provided.

Another highlight of the room is the bathroom. It is one of the best bathroom for this type of hotel. It feel so comfortable, spacious, and Hilton! For the toiletries, of course it's Crabtree and Evelyn, like other Hilton. It never disappoint me. To be honest, every time I was in bathroom, I felt so calm and peace.

At the hotel lobby, there is a computer corner where you can use the computer to surf the internet. But no chair been provided and you need to stand up to use it.

There is also a 24-hour Pavilion Pantry® , in front of the reception, which stocks a variety of snacks, drinks, and travel essentials. So you do need to go out to 7-11 in the middle of the night if you need something. This concept is becoming popular nowadays.

My mother and I never missed having a breakfast at the Garden Grille. The sitting area are spacious. The varieties of the food are good and balanced. The main dishes for the two days I stay here are different. Like I said, with the price you paid, it is really worth it. You will not believed you will pay under RM200 to get all of this.

For the gym enthusiasm, you will never missed your schedule as here also provide the Fitness Center. Everything here are all in order, function properly and looking new. The room smell fresh and nice.

We also having a lunch at the Garden Grille. I was really in love and impress with their EXPRESS 2-course western set lunch. Only RM20 for Mushroom soup+Bread+Mobley Beef Burger+Unlimited Drinks. For this set you also can choose between Fish & Chip or Alguini Al Pesto. I think this is the best deal you can have. Their mushroom soup is really must try and addictive, so good!

My mom not in mood for the western meal. So, she ordered ala carte of Seafood Tom Yang and Special Fried Rice. Both are good.

Kampung Baru is the last traditional Malay village in Kuala Lumpur’s city centre, where you can enjoy a day of strolling amongst wooden stilt homes and coconut and banana trees, against a backdrop of the city’s modern skyscrapers. Developed by the British in the 1890s, this unique landscape is home to a Malay community, offering visitors a glimpse of the traditional Malay lifestyle. If you’re in town for the weekend, make sure to come to the pasar malam or night market on Saturday evening for delicious Malay food and snacks as well as clothes and crafts.

Gurdwara Sahib Tatt Khalsa

Serving the spiritual needs of the area’s Sikh community, the Gurdwara Sahib Tatt Khalsa along Jalan Raja Alang in Kampung Baru is another impressive sight in the Chow Kit area. Built in 1924, it is the largest Sikh place of worship in Southeast Asia, serving more than 75,000 Sikh residents of Kuala Lumpur.

The Sultan Sulaiman Club

Built in 1909 on land given by Sultan Ala'eddin Suleiman Shah of Selangor, is the oldest and most prominent club created exclusively for the Malay community. Situated on the eponymous Jalan Dewan Sultan Sulaiman, it was once a hotbed of Malay nationalism and became historically significant when the first Malay Congress was held there in 1946, which is said to be the roots of the formation of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO). The current clubhouse building was built in 1967 on the site of the original building.

Don’t forget to explore the surroundings of Jalan Doraisamy, Jalan Yap Ah Shak and Jalan Kamunting where decades-old food shops are local icons.

Jalan Masjid India

Jalan Masjid India used to serve as Kuala Lumpur’s official Little India, until the government decided to designate the nearby, more spacious Brickfields as the new formal Little India district. Nevertheless, Jalan Masjid India has retained its colourful, spirited atmosphere with lots of stores specialising in Indian merchandise.

Masjid Jamek Sultan Abdul Samad

One of Malaysia’s oldest mosques, Masjid Jamek Sultan Abdul Samad (or Masjid Jamek Kuala Lumpur) was officiated in 1909 by Sultan Ala'eddin Suleiman Shah of Selangor, serving as the city’s main mosque before Masjid Negara was built. Located on Jalan Tun Perak where the Klang and Gombak Rivers meet, the mosque stands on the city’s first Malay burial ground. Designed by British architect Arthur Benison Hubback, the Neo-Moorish architectural style features horseshoe arches over decorated columns and onion-shaped domes and spires.

St Mary’s Cathedral

Situated on Jalan Raja near the historic Royal Selangor Club, St Mary’s Cathedral is one of the oldest Anglican churches in Malaysia. Built in 1894 by the British colonial administration, it is modelled on an English country church with its early English gothic architecture. Originally a simple timber building, it was quickly transformed into a whitewashed brick building with stained glass windows, tasselled tile paving and buttresses. In the past, this was the church of the city’s British inhabitants.

Sultan Abdul Samad Building

The Sultan Abdul Samad Building is among Kuala Lumpur’s earliest Moorish-style buildings. Set on Jalan Raja to the east of Dataran Merdeka and the Royal Selangor Club, it was designed by British architect Arthur Benison Hubback and built in 1897. Named after the reigning Sultan of Selangor at the time, the distinguished landmark originally served as the secretariat for the colonial British administration.

Using the stylised name Dataran ndrgrnd, culture and retail hub goods and experiences from its four pillars of arts, music, food and fashion. Get quality local products at the frequent bazaars or enjoy live performances at this space located on the lower ground floor of the Plaza Dataran Merdeka building on Jalan Raja.

National Textile Museum

Situated on Merdeka Square along Jalan Sultan Hishamuddin, the National Textile Museum is housed in one of the Kuala Lumpur city centre’s heritage landmarks built in the early-1900s in a Neo-Moorish style. The building has housed railway and government offices, bank offices and even courts in its long history. Today, the museum showcases the process and technique of textile making, and houses exquisite collections of traditional apparel, accessories, and textiles from various ethnic groups in Malaysia.

St John’s Cathedral

Standing on Jalan Bukit Nanas, St John's Cathedral was founded as the Church of St John the Evangelist in 1883, and was the only Catholic church in Selangor. Back then, the church building was a long wooden hall built on a forested part of Bukit Nanas. Decades later, the foundation stone for a new church building in brick was laid in 1954. The same year saw the ordination of the First Bishop of Kuala Lumpur and in 1962, the church was elevated to a Cathedral.

Bank Negara Malaysia Museum and Art Gallery

The Bank Negara Malaysia Museum and Art Gallery is housed in Sasana Kijang, a sleek complex of glass and titanium on Jalan Dato’ Onn. Designed to appeal to all ages, the Museum and Art Gallery provides the public with an informal venue for learning about the importance of economics, Islamic banking and financial planning, as well as the role the Central Bank plays in nation building through prudent economic transformational policies. Meanwhile, the Art Gallery showcases Bank Negara Malaysia’s collection of Malaysian and Southeast Asian art acquired since 1962.
