Where to stay in Melaka - The Straits Hotel and Suites is Excellent for Family

I had been visited Melaka last week for Melaka Performance and Art Festival (MAPFEST 2016) which was happened around St. Paul Hills. It was annual event in Melaka and it is featuring various solo and collaborative performances over the 3-day festival.

As I got the media invitation last minute, all the search for the accommodation also been done last minute, as I remember, it was done one day before I went to Melaka. As I was looking for hotels around the event took place, I was attracted with The Straits Hotel and Suites as it is a new hotel in town, it just operated for about about 1 year and it is 4 stars hotel.

Offering quality accommodations in the shopping, nightlife, and restaurants district of Malacca City, The Straits Hotel and Suites is a popular pick for both business and leisure travellers especially with those travel with family.

They also offering BBQ dinner at the rooftop poolside with an amazing view. Do check my review here.

About my stay:
Room: Straits Suites (1 living room + 1 bedroom)
Duration: 1 night
Price: Walk-in (RM600+), online (RM300+)
Deposit: RM 100
Room No: 2017 (20th Floor)

Location (9/10)
The Straits Suites and Hotel conveniently located in the heart of Historical City of Melaka and UNESCO Heritage Site. It just 3 minutes walk adjacent to shopping belt of Melaka where guest can enjoy easy access to shopping, entertainment and dining destinations.

For me, from the hotel to the event, it took about 7 minutes to arrive at the festival venue and it is really convenient to me.

Around the hotel, you can get a lot of restaurant, convenience stores and plus Melaka Raya is popular with the massage shops.

Interior of Straits Suites (8/10)
This new hotel in Melaka offers 352 spacious of deluxe guestrooms and luxurious suites with kitchenette and feature contemporary design facilities to meet today’s modern lifestyle. Each deluxe room and suites are fitted with large windows offering ample natural lighting with balcony and offers spectacular view of the ocean and town views.

The Straits Suite I stayed has 2 rooms, one is a living room plus the kitchenette and another one is a bed room with balcony and a huge bathroom.  The room is huge & spacious with adequate lighting.

If you are visiting with big family, you can get a Family Suites, which the Straits Suites combined with Deluxe room through the connecting doors, so you will automatically have 2 bedrooms and 1 living rooms.

Cleanliness (8/10)
As for a newly operated hotel, I can say the cleanliness of this hotel is at the top level. Congratulation for the all staffs for the hard work to maintained the cleanliness.
Comfortness (9/10)
Talking about comfortness, I still remember that I was about to cancel my plan to go around the event as the bed was too good. My sleep experience in this hotel was at maximum as my bedroom was so spacious.

As for their living room, the sofa is good and soft. I probably will have no problem to sleep in front of the TV.

The bathroom is one to die for. Soaking in the bathtub is a magical. How I wish they provide more various of toiletries.

Facilities (8/10)
The facilities and services provided by The Straits Hotel & Suites - Managed by Topotels ensure a pleasant stay for guests. While lodging at this wonderful property, guests can enjoy free Wi-Fi in all rooms, 24-hour front desk, facilities for disabled guests, luggage storage, Wi-Fi in public areas.

Many rooms even provide television LCD/plasma screen, internet access – wireless, internet access – wireless (complimentary), non smoking rooms, air conditioning to please the most discerning guest. The hotel offers an excellent variety of recreational facilities, including fitness center, sauna, outdoor pool. Superb facilities and an excellent location make the The Straits Hotel & Suites] the perfect base from which to enjoy your stay in Malacca.

Staffs (8/10)
I had no problem with the staffs. The smile all the times when I first step in the hotel lobby. The check-in process was fast and smooth. During breakfast, all the waiters were smiling and helpful.

Value for money (8/10)
For me, yes it is value every penny. If you are traveling with family or in a business trip, the hotel is really suitable for you and got recommendation from me. Try to book online through Agoda, Booking or Traveloka as the price much more cheaper compared to walk-in price.

Security (9/10)
To go to the room's floor, you will need a card. So it is very secured.

Breakfast (8/10)
I love their restaurant, it got a contemporary design which was nice to see first in the morning. They have 2 side, indoor or outdoor section. There were a lot of choice of food in the morning. And the space are spacious and you not to worry that you will not get a seat.
